Lady Warriors record 15 team aces in regional semi win
Tusky Valley entered Wednesday night’s Division III regional semifinal match against Adena the top ranked team in Ohio and still without a loss during the 2009 season. The Lady Warriors used great serving and a balanced hitting attack to hand Tusky their first loss and to advance to Saturday’s final against the defending state champions, the Lady Spartans of Alexander. Alex beat Wheelersburg in five sets in Wednesday’s first semifinal.

After Adena rolled to an easy first-set win, Tusky answered by taking set two. Lady momentum returned to Adena midway through the third set when Logan Bowdle served Adena out to a four-point lead at 20-16. Tusky answered with a few points, but Adena finished the set to take a two games to one advantage. The match appeared to be heading to a fifth set when Tusky held a 21-17 lead in set four; however, a pair of Tusky errors allowed Adena back in it and with the score tied at 23-23, it was a Hannah Halcomb to Kirsti Yates kill followed by a Kelsey Bielanow ace to end the match. The final scoring line read 25-17, 22-25, 25-19, 25-23.

For the match, Bielanow had 15 kills and six blocks while Olivia Arledge added 12 kills.
