A 0-11 start behind them, the Unioto Shermans – like millions of American – hope things will be better under an Obama Administration.

They were on Friday as Unioto (1-11, 1-9 SVC) sank seven of eight free throws in the final 58 seconds to shake off the burden of a winless campaign, scoring a 31-27 Scioto Valley Conference win over the host Southeastern Panthers on Friday.

Unioto freshman Cole Murray, appearing in only his fourth varsity game, coolly sank a pair of free throws with 58 seconds remaining to put the Tanks in front 26-22. Southeastern senior Denver Snyder's runner in the lane narrowed the score to 26-24 with 34 seconds left.

But UHS senior Nate Baker – celebrating his 19th birthday – hit one of two free throws with 28 ticks left and the Tanks led 27-24.  Alex Kimsey buried two more charity tosses with 21 seconds to go, giving Unioto its biggest lead of the night at 29-24.

Kimsey and junior Quentin Detillion led all scorers with eight points.

For Southeastern (4-9, 3-7 SVC), senior Joe Hall and junior Devin Willard led with seven points each.
