Unioto passes early road test
with win in Frankfort

Arledge & Ray lead the way for the Tanks
Wippel and WF start SVC with win
FRANKFORT - Unioto forced 14 first-half Adena turnovers to build a 26-18 halftime advantage. Adena did start the third quarter well; however, another Unioto spurt pushed the lead back to double-digits and Unioto rolled from there to a 48-36 road win.

Unioto's Mackenzie Arledge and Shiann Ray combined for 32 points in the win. Adena did do a nice job on Ray for most of night holding her to just 7-of-21 shooting; however, Unioto's overall guard play combined with Arledge's solid performance in the post proved to be too much for the two-shade blue.

The win improves Unioto to 2-0 overall as they prepare to travel to Vinton County on Saturday.

Unofficially for Adena, Megan Davidson scored a team-high 15 points while Kelsey Bielanow scored eight points and grabbed eight boards. The loss drops the Lady Warriors to 0-2 overall on the young season. Adena will host Leesburg on Saturday.
Huntington & ZT win as well
Makenzie Wippel recorded her second double-double - 11 points and 10 rebounds - in as many games to lead Westfall to a 44-41 victory over visiting Paint Valley. Sophomore Casie Zimmerman joined Wippel in double-figures with 11 points.

The Bearcats led 34-25 after three quarters of play before getting hit hard with foul trouble, and Westfall took advantage out scoring PV 19-7 in the final quarter to capture the league win. The win makes WF 1-1 overall and they travel to Teays Valley on Thursday. Paint Valley - who was led by Erica Barker with 18 points - drops to 2-1 overall and will head to Peebles on Saturday.

In other action, Zane Trace got 14 points and 12 rebounds from Jessica Roepke as the Lady Pioneers start their season with a 55-32 win over Piketon. Huntington also starts its season with a win. The green and white defeated Southeastern 43-28.
