The Scioto Valley Conference saw league play get underway Wednesday night down at Big Beaver Golf Course. The home course of the Piketon Redstreaks hosted all eight league schools as Unioto's 157 took SVC Match #1 by 12 shots over Huntington. Unioto was led by Drew Nichols who carded a round of 38 to lead the Tanks.

Individually, another defending champ (click
here to look back at last year's team and invidual final standings) enjoyed a good opening round as returning player of the year, Huntington's Duane Irvin, shot a 39. Unioto's Josh Cushing and Colton Forcum both shot 39 as well, but it was Southeastern's Ben Davis who shared co-medalist honors at 38 with Nichols.

Remember, individuals must play in seven matches to qualify for all-league at the end of the year. If a player does score in all eight, only the player's top seven scores will count in the all-league standings.

Unioto, who appears to once again have incredible depth in this year's line-up, takes the early lead in the
team standings earning eight, first-place points. Huntington earns seven in second while Southeastern, perhaps the league's most improved team earned six for their third-place finish.

The league will return to action Tuesday night at the VA for SVC Match #2, but then the eight teams make a quick turnaround with SVC Match #3 taking place at Valley Vista on Thursday.
