Lady Shermans fall to Madeira in Regional Final
The Unioto girls’ soccer team ran into the Division-II top-ranked team Saturday afternoon, and the Lady Shermans had their incredible run ended as Regional Runner-Ups as Madeira beat Unioto 8-2.

Down 7-0, Unioto got on the board when Kyleen Muirhead took a corner kick from Morgan Gumm and scored on a header to cut the lead to six.

Unioto’s other score came later on an Erin Bane to Natalie Neff goal. Obviously, the six-goal loss isn’t what the purple and gold had in mind Saturday; however, Unioto’s two goals marked the first time Madeira had allowed more than a single goal in a match this season. The unbeaten regional champs will now enter next week’s Final Four having allowed only 10 total goals for the entire season.

Another positive note for Unioto following its 17-2-2 finish to the 2010 season is the fact that Coach Mark Williamson’s Lady Shermans will bring back every player on this year’s roster for the 2011 season as well.
