Tough third quarter buries Bearcats in district semi loss
Paint Valley had the tempo to their liking throughout the first half of Saturday afternoon’s Division IV District Semifinal. The Lady Bearcats trailed by only two at halftime while holding the high-powered Waterford attack to just 27 points; however, the third quarter saw the game’s tempo getting faster and faster, and eventually, things started to get away from Paint Valley. Waterford outscored the black and gold 24-9 in the third period on their way to a 70-37 win.

A big reason for the spurt was turnovers. Paint Valley, who ends the season 7-15, turned the ball over 24 times and shot only 27% from the floor. Waterford (19-3) had only 14 turnovers and made good on 53% of their shots from the floor. The Lady Wildcats attempted 49 field goals while PV only took 37 total shots from the floor.

Whitney Hollon was the only Paint Valley player in double-figures. The senior scored 18 points in her final game for the Lady Bearcats.
