| Southeastern's Jeremy Forcum and Paint Valley's Johnny Free both held the record at 32 (both shot at Running Fox) before McKee's 30 on Wednesday night. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| *After making a par on hole eight, McKee drove the green on nine. His eagle attempt was left nearly seven or eight feet short. His birdie putt had a lot of speed at the hole, but it caught the back of the cup and went down for McKee's first birdie. Southeastern coach John Snyder felt like this putt really got the great round going. "“I really felt like the birdie putt on nine set the tone for the round,” said Snyder. “That putt had a lot of speed on it, and Eli being able to avoid a three putt or maybe worse was big. I think that birdie settled him in and allowed him to relax.” *After a birdie at one and a par at two, McKee found himself in the right rough at the par five third. McKee hit an outstanding shot to inside ten feet and converted the eagle putt to move to four-under after five holes. McKee's only blemish on his card came with a bogey at the long par three fourth hole, but he wasted no time getting it back with birdies on his final three holes. “Eli has such a great head for the game of golf,” said Snyder. “He is really sharp when it comes to course management, and he always does a great job of keeping his emotions in check.” |
