By Shayne Combs,

You bring up a topic that comes up every year in every voting. It is a philosophy first and foremost. I
have never believed that every school must have one, but I certainly never intentionally shutout a team.
This year’s league is really top-heavy. As I said above, I think Westfall has a lot of future potential,
and Huntington has great tradition in their girls’ program, but this year they just didn’t have a top-
15 individual in my opinion. The biggest thing on this topic is who would you take off to open a spot?
Dacia Posey averaged nearly 10 points (13th in SVC) and seven rebounds (5th in SVC) and Sophie
McCorkle averaged nine points (14th in SVC) and a little over seven rebounds (4th in SVC). Uniotoâ
€™s Morgan Gumm was in the top 10 in the league in both assists and steals and she delivered arguably
the two biggest plays in Unioto’s championship run. In the end, there just wasn’t room. I agree
that the list does look more complete if all eight teams are represented, but I just don’t think this yearâ
€™s league could feasibly produce that.
