| Zane Trace’s Taylor Hatfield sets a new record in winning the 800
By Shayne Combs, JJHuddle.com & SVCsportszone.com In Saturday’s Division II Girls Track & Field State Meet, Zane Trace's Taylor Hatfield crossed the finish line first with a time of 2:08.91. The time not only makes the sophomore the 2010 state champion in this event, but it makes her the new state record holder as well. The old record was held by Bridget Franek of Mantua Crestwood in 2006 with a time of 2:11.22. Hatfield’s run on Saturday just missed the stadium record at Jesse Owens Stadium which belongs to Cleveland Heights Beaumont’s Emily Infeld with a time of 208.63. Infeld’s time, which is just .28 off Hatfield’s mark, was set back in 2007. Hatfield was the runaway winner in this year’s event as she crossed nearly seven seconds ahead of Kirsten Stevenson of Chagrin Falls.
