|FOOTBALL FRIDAY NIGHT = WEEK THREE RECAP
|PV WINS = continued from home page
On the night, Morris carried 17 times for 130 yards and a
touchdown. The senior captain also recorded an
interception and a huge blocked PAT which kept the PV
lead a two-possession one late in the fourth quarter.
In the first quarter, the running of Morris and Gage
McFadden erased poor field position. The senior duo
pushed the Bearcats out past midfield when Morris
exploded on a cutback run that ended down inside the
five-yard line. On the next play McFadden found the end
zone to give PV a 6-0 lead.
From that point, the story became McClain's mistakes and
PV's ability to cash in on them. Wes Parker - the PV junior
that took a kickoff back for a score last week - picked off
a Brian Pitzer pass out in the right flat and returned it
65-yards for a score to push the lead to 12-0.
McClain would answer late in the half with a field goal to
send the teams to the break with PV leading 12-3.
In the second half, the big play came with McClain
mishandling a punt-snap giving PV the ball on the Tiger
11-yard line. The Cats cashed in for six as Morris found
the end zone to extend the lead to 18-3.
Once again McClain responed, this time with a touchdown,
cutting the lead to 18-9. With a chance to cut the PV lead
to one possession, it was Morris slicing in to block the PAT.
The win moves Paint Valley to 3-0. The Bearcats open
league play next Friday at Westfall.
