| Polley's 21 paces Tigers past Tanks McClain improves to 8-6 |
|||
| McClain junior point guard Lucas Polley was all over the court Monday night, playing stifling defense, swiping the ball, directing the offense and, oh yes, scoring points.
His 21 markers powered the Tigers to a 38-27 non-conference road win over the Unioto Shermans. An 11-1 McClain run at the end of the first quarter and at the start of the second snapped a 7-7 tie and gave the Tigers (8-6) an 18-8 lead they would never relinguish. Unioto sophomore guard Brick Davis buried two free throws with 3:33 left in the first half to cut the McClain lead to 18-14, but that was as close as the Tanks (1-13) would get. At half, the lead was back up to 10 at 25-15. Three players shared scoring honors for Unioto, senior Nate Baker and juniors Shane Maier and Quentin Detillion each tallied six. Junior Cameron Mace added eight points. Three Tigers grabbed four boards apiece – Polley, Zack Mullikin and Dalton Detty. There's no rest for the Shermans as Unioto is scheduled to visit Circleville tonight (Feb. 3) in a non-conference game. The Tanks return to Scioto Valley Conference play at Huntington on Friday. |
