The Unioto Boys Cross Country Team won and the Girls finished
fourth in the 14 school Teays Valley Invitational Saturday.

On the boys side, the competition featured Teays Valley and
Canal Winchester, both of whom are in contention to win the
MSL this fall.  Adrian Ross ran a season best time of 16:11 which
is only one second off his personal record of 16:10 set last year in
winning the Piketon Invitational.

Senior Ryan Valentine set a personal record of 16:28 and finished
2nd overall in the strong field.  He is now within one second of
passing 2007 graduate and All-Ohio athlete Chaz Smith for 3rd
place all-time for Unioto.

The Shermans really improved in the 3-5 spots with Sammy
Holbert running a PR of 17:24, Zane Taylor a PR of 17:40, and
Jeremy Sandusky a PR of 18:01.  Rounding out the varsity for
Unioto was Jr Ethan Poe 18:40, and Fr. Anthony Edwards in
18:42.  Devin Wheeler was top reserve in 19:08, also a PR.

The lady Shermans had by far their best showing of the year with
Miriah Park returning to the lineup.  The girls narrowly beat
Chillicothe High School, who was fifth, for the first time this year.

Miriah led the team in 21:16 followed closely by fr. Mallory
Retherford in 21:19.  Abby Oyer, Sarah Wolford, and Taylor
Barillaro also scored for the Shermans, each running a season best
time.  Brianna Diehl was sixth for the girls cutting nearly 2 minutes
off her personal record in the process.  The girls finished 4th in the
team standings outlasting Chillicothe for the first time this season.
