Ethan Richter finished fourth as Unioto put four runners in the top 28 of Saturday’s D-II Regional Cross Country Meet as Unioto finished third to qualify for next week’s State Cross Country Meet. The trip to State is Unioto’s 10th straight – a number that serves as the current best streak in all of Division II in Ohio. Zane Trace and Piketon failed to qualify in the team standings.
Individually, Zane Trace senior Cory Miles finished 12th to qualify while Piketon’s Kane Dixon finished 17th just missing the needed top-16 spot. Kane, just a sophomore, missed the spot by only two seconds.
In girls, Zane Trace finished fifth and Unioto finished seventh as both failed to find the necessary top-four ranking. Individually, Zane Trace’s Jessie Proehl (4th) and Kim Wolfe (15th) both are heading to State. For Unioto, Kinkela Harkins (12th) also qualified. Like Kane on the boys’ side, ZT’s Emily Joosse finished 17th missing it by less than a second on the photo finish.
