| Top-ranked Tusky too tough for Westfall | ||||||||||
| Tuscarawas Valley entered Thursday night with a perfect record and a top-ranking in the Division III State Poll as Westfall simply ran into a very good opponent in the regional semifinal round. Tusky Valley beat Westfall in straight sets 25-19, 25-9, and 25-16. Westfall senior setter Hannah Gabriel recorded seven kills and 16 assists in her final game. Classmate Haylie Joyce had 11 digs. At the net, Olivia Cobb and Alex Phillips both finished with nine kills. In the second game, Adena had control of its match from start to finish. The Lady Warriors defeated Alexander 25-21, 25-16, 25-22. Adena enjoyed great balance led by their two usual top hitters in Olivia Arledge and Kelsey Bielanow. Olivia Arledge finished with 17 kills while Kelsey Bielnow added 13 kills. This was all made possible by some great back row passing. Cara Coy led the two-shade blue with 25 digs. Jenny Grigsby added 19 digs. Cadie Cory dished out 36 assists. Logan Bowdle also played an outstanding match as she recorded seven kills and 10 digs. Adena will return to Logan on Saturday to play Tusky Valley for the right to represent the southeast in next week's Final Four. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. |
