The Piketon Redstreaks and the Southeastern Panthers both rolled to wins for the second straight week, but tonight's top game took place in Pickaway County. Westfall was behind 12-0 late in the third quarter when quarterback Trent Williamson went to work. Westfall's sophomore signal-caller found the end zone twice with the second coming on a fourth-and-goal from the one-yard line with a minute left to play. The Mustangs then added a two point conversion to take a 15-12 advantage.
Logan Elm quickly responded with a late drive that resulted in a field goal at the end of regulation to even things up at 15-15.
Now it was Westfall's turn to answer and they did with a touchdown on the opening drive of overtime. After adding the PAT, Westfall was up 22-15.
Back came Logan Elm. The Braves, needing a touchdown to avoid the loss, converted a fourth-and-13 down to the one-yard line. Logan Elm then found the end zone to draw within one at 22-21. On the PAT, it was Westfall's Luke Cline providing the play of the night as the sophomore blocked the kick to give Westfall the 22-21, overtime win. |
